After announcing it was to strengthen Ultra HD production, Spain's RTVE is to produce a documentary series in 4K.
Ciudades Españolas Patrimonio Mundial will feature 15 Spanish cities which are part of Unesco's world heritage list, following an agreement between the public broadcaster and the Unesco group in Spain.
The 15 one-hour episodes will be filmed entirely in Ultra HD. Although potential partners haven't yet been unveiled, RTVE has used Hispasat, Sony and Dolby for its latest Ultra HD productions.
“This project reinforces RTVE's role as a public service. The public broadcaster is using all its power to spread the values of Spain's world heritage cities,” said José Antonio Sánchez, the corporation's president.
The documentary series will cover the cities of Avila, Santiago de Compostela, Segovia, Caceres, Toledo, Salamanca, Merida, Cordoba, Cuencia, Alcala de Henares, Ibiza, San Cristobal de la Laguna, Tarragona, Baeza and Ubeda.
The moves comes short after RTVE announced the creation of a separate budget or Ultra HD formats during 2016.
