Spain's TVE appoints new head
Spain's public broadcaster RTVE has appointed Eladio Jareño as the new director for its TV network TVE following the resignation of José Ramón Díez in February for personal reasons.
The appointment of Jareño, who is currently head of RTVE in Catalonia, has already been criticised, as his previous experience includes working as head of public relations for Alicia Sánchez-Camacho, president of the Conservative party (Partido Popular) in Catalonia. Indeed, his career was always been related to political communications until he joined RTVE in 2003.
His roles since he arrived at the public broadcaster have included director of children’s programming.
Between 2008 and 2014, when he returned to RTVE following the appointment of José Antonio Sánchez as the broadcaster's president, Jareño was director of regional channel Telemadrid.
