India’s Ten Sports is renaming its five channels in April as part of a revamp by the Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL)-owned sports network.
Ten Sports, Ten Action, Ten Cricket, Ten HD and the recently launched Ten Golf will instead be called Ten 1, Ten 2, Ten 3, Ten 1 HD and Ten Golf HD, according to a local report.
“The decision has been taken to complement our wide portfolio of content. Instead of having one channel showing only cricket and one only football we will now switch and swap,” a company executive is quoted as saying by Indiantelevision.com.
A new logo and brand message which be unveiled soon, he added.
The Ten Sports network owns long term broadcast rights for four cricket boards – South Africa, West Indies, Pakistan and Sri Lanka – as well as rights to UEFA football, WWE and PGA golf properties. Its pay-TV channels are available globally, via ZEEL’s partners.
