Viacom18 integrates consumer products, network management

Viacom18, claimed to be one of India’s fastest growing media and entertainment companies, has appointed Saugato Bhowmik as the new head of its Integrated Network Solutions (INS) business unit.
VIACOM 18 22 MAY 2016A 50:50 joint venture of Viacom Inc. and the Network18 Group, Viacom18 has launched brands such as VH1 Supersonic, MTV Bollyland, Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, Emerge, MTV Xtreme and Comedy Central Chuckle Festival.
INS regards itself as being instrumental in developing brand solutions for consumers and live properties across music and entertainment genres in India. The new head succeeds Jaiden Singh who will be leaving the organisation. In addition to being head of INS, Saugato will continue to head the consumer products business line at Viacom18.
The consumer products line offers a portfolio of merchandise for the kids and youth segment with products including exclusive ‘back-to-school’ toys and apparel in the kids segment. The licensing arm of the network has also inked exclusive deals with FC Barcelona football club and the Peppa Pig franchise.
Commenting on the appointment, Viacom18 Group CEO Sudhanshu Vats said that by making its new appointment, the company was taking an opportunity to build a company with the INS unit fully integrated with the Consumer Products line, managed ‘synergistically’ by one team. He added: “Saugato has rich experience in marketing and his expertise in consumer products has enabled us to monetise various brand properties through successful merchandising and licensing partnerships. We are confident that his sharp marketing sense and ability to mine consumer insights will help grow the INS business further.”
