Univision, ABC take aim at Millennials with joint news network, Fusion TV

    Michelle Clancy | 29-10-2013

Fusion, a brand new television network formed by a joint venture between the Disney/ABC Television Network and Univision Communications, launched this week with an exclusive interview conducted by Jim Avila with President Obama during the network's flagship show: AMERICA with Jorge Ramos.

Ramos himself also sat down with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) for a one-on-one interview, discussing immigration reform, Cruz's political future and Obamacare among other topics. Plus, Ramos also travelled to Arizona last month to visit the US-Mexico border. While there, he spent time with Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Fusion is a news, pop culture and satire TV and digital network questing after Millennial eyes with a mix of what it calls "smart and irreverent original reporting, lifestyle and comedic content". In contrast, CNN, MSNBC and Fox News have a median age of 60 or higher, according to Nielsen.

The network will also develop content meant to lure English-speaking Hispanics to the network.

Fusion launched in about 20 million households nationwide as six major distributors have already agreed to carry the cable network including Cablevision, Charter, Cox, AT&T U-Verse, Verizon FiOS and Google Fiber. The goal is to expand that to 60 million within five years
